Coupling check

Wear of the conducted disk in the established state cannot be distinguished. The first sign of wear is coupling slipping.

The sliding coupling attracts attention at first on the highest transfer at the movement with freight. The engine gains steam, and speed remains former. You will be able to receive a certain concept about wear, having done the following experience which should not be repeated too often.

Slips coupling or not?

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To put the car on the emergency brake, to start the engine.
  2. To include the third transfer, to slowly squeeze out coupling and to give gas.
  3. At the good emergency brake the engine has to decay.
  4. If the engine continues to work, it is necessary to repair coupling.

Whether "conducts" coupling?

If the transmission difficult switches even at the heated-up engine or process of switching is followed by the scratching or creaking sounds, then most likely, coupling completely is not switched off, i.e. "conducts" it. The similar effect is caused by damages of the transmission quite seldom. To be completely sure, we will make experiment with the first or reverse gear:

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To leave the engine to work in the idling mode.
  2. To completely squeeze out a coupling pedal, to wait about three a moment, and then to try to include the first or back transfers.
  3. If transfer joins hardly or the transmission creak is heard, it means that coupling "conducts". The conducted disk rotates thus not absolutely freely.
  4. To check hydraulics of coupling and to pump over.
  5. Once again to make the above described experiment.
  6. Other reasons of not divided coupling are given in the list of malfunctions at the end of the head.
