Check of level of oil of the mechanical transmission

Sleva: the control carving stopper (1) of the mechanical transmission is located in the direction of the movement on the right on a half of height of the case of the transmission. The carving stopper of a drain opening (2) is located below on the transmission.

On the right: level of working liquid in a tank of the power steering (2) needs to be checked at the working engine. If marks of a tank are not visible, it is necessary to turn off a cover of a tank (1) and to check the probe. Shooters point to marks.

In the transmission oil is not spent as in the engine, and can flow out only through defective consolidations. If on the transmission case no dirty places impregnated with oil outside are visible, then this point of checkup is finished. Otherwise it is necessary to check oil level. The carving stopper of aspic (and control) openings is in the direction of the movement on a half of height of the case of the transmission near a power shaft at the left.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To lift the car in horizontal position.
  2. To turn out a stopper a key with an internal hexagon of 17 mm.
  3. If gearbox oil begins to follow at once, then with its level everything is all right.
  4. If is not present, then it is necessary to push a finger in an opening and to check whether gets opening oil: sufficient level of oil.
  5. At bigger shortage to add the corresponding gearbox oil at gas station or in a workshop.

For check of the ATF level to extend the probe from the directing tube (3) located behind at the left in a motor compartment. At warm the ATF level of liquid has to be in normal range (1) between two marks. On the extender (2) it is possible to check level and at cold ATF.

 Hint: autographic filling by very viscous gearbox oil by means of a funnel and a long hose even at the warmed-up oil represents considerable test of your patience and for this reason it is not recommended. It is better to use for an oil dolivka special canisters or the syringe with the built-in hose.

Correct grade of gearbox oil

You should not think of replacement of gearbox oil more. The transmission gear is supplied with the tank from which possible impurity are caught by means of a magnet.

However gearbox oil has to conform to certain requirements. Audi orders use of oil of a class of viscosity of SAE 75 W-90 with the G 50 specification. It is about synthetic oil.
