Disk brake mechanisms

Together with a forward wheel in a stream of air the steel disk rotates. It is sedlovidno covered by a so-called support of the disk brake mechanism. When pressing a brake pedal pistons press brake shoes to disks – there is a braking process.

For achievement of higher forces operating on a brake shoe, the Audi 80 model with the 6-cylinder engine is equipped with two brake cylinders on a support.

The air stream running at the movement constantly cools the disk brake mechanism. Additional cooling of forward disk brake mechanisms is provided at the models equipped with the 85 kW engines and more but also at models with the 66 kW engine in combination with the automatic transmission: on a disk of the brake mechanism there is big dredging which takes air, thereby improving cooling.

The design of disk brake mechanisms of forward wheels of Audi 80 and (where they are established) back wheels has a so-called floating bracket. The support of the brake mechanism looks as the clenched fist. The brake cylinder with the piston presses an internal block to a brake disk because of what the case of the cylinder moves ahead on a guide and presses a brake shoe to a brake disk on other party.

Disk brakes at damp weather

At a constant rain the located openly brake disks plentifully are moistened, and as a result of it brake influence steps on a fraction of a second later. Moisture between brake disks and brake shoes has to evaporate at first. In the winter when salt is actively used, this effect is shown even stronger because the salt which got on brake shoes and disks when braking at first has to be erased from them.
